Smudged Painting Effect PSCS3

After another restless evening with doggie antics, I am exhausted, so, today, I am posting a tutorial I made when I owned a photo restoration and graphic business and used Photoshop CS3. It should take me all of ten minutes to write this little bit and post the video and then I need another nap.

I loved playing with different effects which restoration rarely used, one of those effects was the illusion of a smudged painting on canvas. Here is my tutorial on how to create an artistic, smudged-painting effect from a photo with the illusion of being on canvas.

Daily Post: Ready, Set, Done! Our ten-minute free-write is back for another round! Tap away on whatever comes to mind, no filters attached. (Feel free to edit later, or just publish as-is).

  1. That’s actually useful, if I can map it to PS CS 6!

    • Aw, thank you! It’s not an in-depth tutorial, but, at least you can see the tools I used. I’ve done others using the smudge effect, it looks really good on furry dogs, but I didn’t do a tutorial. Anyway, have fun! 😀
